Well, it’s been nearly 2 weeks since my birthday. But, I’m a big believer in celebrating for as long as possible. Birthday-week, birthday-month – it’s all good!
On July 18th, I was able to cross of #35 of my Bucket List! Mr. G’s uncle surprised us with tickets to see the Red Sox – a perfect addition to my celebratory week!
We made a day of it, heading to the historic Fenway Park early that morning. There was a great buzz about the streets. I loved seeing red, white, and blue everywhere! There were food carts, carnival-like games, and street performers. A bit later there was a bagpipe ensemble as well. It was already a good time, and we had only just passed through the gates!

Some unique examples of Red Sox branding.
This was our gate. I read online that if it’s your first time (which it was for me!), visit the Fan Services Booth inside Gate D to receive a small gift. Well, the big kid that I am did just that. Here are the goodies that I got:
A certificate documenting my first Red Sox experience, a big sticker, a Red Sox Nation wristband, and a Kevin Yooooooooooukilis postcard. Pretty sweet, huh? Mr. G was kind enough to hold on to this stuff for me… in his pockets… until we got home… hours later. So, they’re a little roughed up. No worries, though!
Back to the Fenway Park Experience! We were told that our seats were amazing and that I would be forever spoiled. Well, we immediately felt very VIP loading up into an elevator with a doorman and going up 4 floors. We walked down a bright corridor that had these momentous, framed magazine covers.

On our way to our seats…

Our seats – which were baseballs! See ‘em?
More branding/logo goodness. This was tagged on my purse strap after I went through the checkpoint.
Here are some views of the stadium. What great seats – I am forever spoiled!

Did I mention that we were under shade? And the weather was perfectly summer-like – warm, bright, and breezy. But I was so thankful to be undercover, since it was an afternoon game!
PLAY BALL!!! Ahhh, what a lovely view of the Boston skyline. Oh… by the way, we were playing the Texas Rangers.
I was really excited to see David Ortiz because (1) he’s Big Papi and (2) earlier that week he won the 2010 Home Run Derby at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California – first Red Sox player to hold the title!
Unfortunately I didn’t get to see any of his home runs in person – he struck out, at least twice. It was still really cool to see him, though!
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. But, I finally enjoyed one of America’s favorite past-times! I sang the Star-Spangled Banner, Sweet Caroline, and Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Mr. G bought me some Cracker Jacks to complete this most memorable experience.
We lost. No biggie, at least, not to me. It was a fun game to watch from a very awesome perspective. I’m definitely looking forward to next time, hopefully a night game!
